Introduction [Biosketch]

  • Dr. Dipankar Bhanja is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar. He obtained his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (University of North Bengal) and his M.E. and Ph.D. from Jadavpur University. Before joining NIT Silchar, he served as a faculty member at Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur, and Dumkal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Murshidabad. With over 23 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Bhanja’s research interests include extended surfaces and porous fins, constructal design, bioheat and boiling heat transfer, solar thermal energy systems, thermal protective clothing, phase change materials (PCMs), and machine learning applications in thermal systems. He has authored and co-authored over 100 research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences. To date, seven Ph.D. and twenty-one postgraduate scholars have completed their research under his supervision, while six Ph.D. scholars are currently pursuing their research under his guidance.
