- Dr. Sushanta Kumar Sahoo is currently working as an Assistant Professor Grade II in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Silchar. Prior to this, he was working as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Uttar Pradesh, India. He worked as Post Doctoral Research Associate at IIT Madras from June 2023 to Sep 2025. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras, where his doctoral research involved Development, deformation behavior and manufacturability of magnesium matrix in-situ composite. He completed Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela and Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Odisha. His research interests include Metal casting, Development of advanced materials (ultrafine/ nano grained materials, Metal matrix composites, Lightweight materials- Al, Mg, Ti), Microstructure- Property- Manufacturability Correlation, Metal Forming (Bulk, sheet and micro forming; Superplastic forming), Deformation Behavior of Materials, Tribology. He has authored 11 research articles in reputed international journals to date. He is recipient of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) International Travel Support (ITS) (2024). He served as the reviewer of several reputed international journals.
